In 2000, the Amador County Arts Council and the City of Jackson jointly sponsored a project of 10 murals, depicting the history of Jackson. Keith Sweet, was the visionary, project coordinator and fund-raiser. Larry Cenotto, Amador County Archivist, was also instrumental in choosing the subjects for each mural. Each mural measures five by eight feet and was commissioned to local area muralists. The murals are currently hung in Jackson's Civic Center at 33 Broadway. The mural opening coincided with the 150th anniversary of the founding of the City of Jackson on June 15, 2000.
