Committed to Encouraging, Supporting and Promoting the Arts
In 2004, the Amador County Arts Council and the City of Sutter Creek jointly sponsored a project of 10 murals, depicting the history of Sutter Creek. The project coordinator and fund-raisers worked tirelessly in coordinating the artists and fundraising. The Amador County Arts Council and the project committee selected subjects that were indicative of the history of Sutter Creek.  Artists presented their vision of the subject and the project committee, made up of the Amador County Arts Council Board, selected the final choices.  Each mural measures five by eight feet and was commissioned to local area muralists who ranged in age from 16 to 80.  The murals are currently hung in the Sutter Creek's Civic Auditorium. The mural opening coincided with the 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary of the founding of the City of Sutter Creek and were unveiled on December 1, 2004.  We had the largest city turnout of any city event with over 300 people coming to enjoy the festivities.  If you are in the area please stop by the Civic Auditorium to enjoy the beauty of these murals.
